Bathroom musings
SOO I have been working all day to get this pt a paracentesis (removal of excess fluid, in this case from abdomen). The normal people here at the VA aren't available to do it. So literally this pt has been waiting her for six hours for this procedure that should have happened about four hours ago. Anyway after lunch I call someone else to get an update about what is happening. While waiting for a call back, I suddenly have to use the restroom.
So I put my cell phone in pocket and go the restroom.
While in the restroom I start thinking to myself, what would happen if the phone rang? Would I answer it while using the restroom? How weird is that? (ok, don't pretened this hasn't happened to you too! :)) and then I was thinking, what if someone else came in to the next stall. Probably that would make me too embarrassed to be on the phone. I am kind of grinning to myself at that image when the door open and I hear someone come in. She is talking in short bursts. She goes in to the stall next to me and keeps talking. There is no one else in the restroom. The funny thing is that my first thought was, why is she talking to herself? And then I realized she was on her cell phone!!! Haha.
What has the world come to? Even our restroom time is double tasked.
:)

I want to go to Britain
Just so I can be represented by the British parliament. I meant to blog about this earlier, so I hope I can still capture the verve and excitement.
The night before last I was watching 'Questions to the Prime Minister' on C-span. First of all, the entire British parliament was assembled. This is nice, because in our Congress, I often find one person speaking into a microphone to an empty room.
Second, they speak to each other in the third person. Ok, scratch that, second they actually SPEAK TO EACH OTHER. Let me recount:
So this member of parliament will get up and say:
'Could the esteemed prime minister explain how is it that he promised to us that we would see the effects of such and such bill and we have yet to see any such thing?'
Then the prime minister stands up immediately and states:
'The honorable representative from such and such has once again failed to notice that things are moving in a timely matter as evidenced by such and such.'
Seriously, they made fun of each other. They booed. They cheered. They had quick back and forth arguments. They sounded intelligent.
It was AMAZING. I seriously felt I was watching something fictional.
If you get a chance....
:)

ok ya'll, don't be jealous cause my life is way more exciting than yours

Yes two posts in one day.
I am just that bored. I decided to update my free form list of things I look forward to. If you remember my previous post (no I am not as cool as Gonzo and I don't know how to link it here ;)) this last month of intern year was on it.
Here goes:
HPs still at the top. Unfortunately, cannot watch HP movie until Doha comes back to Egypt due to a binding vow. If I break it, maybe pustules will break out all over my body or something (doha didn't that happen in one of the books...I am sure you know too much about this.)
Shoe sale. Still pending.
Having money to buy shoes at the shoe sale.
Waiting for blemishes from former pimples to fade. Quite exasperating.
Getting my teeth whitened (indefinite time period.)
Being at Menninger next month.
My next birthday (I don't care Gigi, I CAN think about it this early if I want to.)
Going to the Keith Urban concert on July 5th (which I don't have tickets to and feel too cheap to buy tickets to...sigh. will continue to ponder as tickets get more expensive...yet somehow I insist on looking forward to it.)
Falling in love. (yes still on my list. SIGH.)
the third book of that dorky vampire trilogy I borrowed from Doha to come out. (yes doha, I am a teeny bopper, mock me if you will).
not having random pieces of furniture thrown around my apartment
the good news is I just cleaned my bathroom. Otherwise, having a spick-and-span bathroom would be on this list. (mind you, the actual cleaning process will never be on this list)
Playing travel scrabble. (no pressure G :))
Hana making me another marvelous dessert (rather demanding of me considering you just cooked dinner....but I don't care..haha..)
Gilmore girls DVD coming out in December. Must remember to preorder.
On that note, finding another TV show I actually like. Now that both judging amy and gilmore girls have been taken away from me....
Visiting Ahila in Miami.
having someone comment on my blog (AHEM)
and because you both hinted at it last time
Hana (remember free dessert?)
Nadia (future Las Vegas host...exciting!!)
:)

Not fair
So after writing yesterday's blog I decided this morning to get to work nice and calmly and early.
So I did, I got to work 30 minutes earlier than every other morning this week.
But I forgot that I have an EXTRA hour to sleep on Friday mornings in this clinic.
:(
this is very disgruntling. I just can't win this game

Frantic mornings...
Something weird happens to me in the mornings when I wake up. I have tried to stop my distressing am habits, but to no avail. Enter, with caution, into the ahem...interesting world of mornings with Frieda (yes I am in a third person mood lately.)
So my alarm goes off. I typically spend about twenty minutes in bed listening to the radio and trying to force myself out of bed. Fine. I get out of bed and mentally decide in my head it shoudl only take me 15 minutes to get ready for work. Why 15 minutes? So already I am kind of running around frantically, quick! bathroom time quick! get dressed! grabbing breakfast or no? (often no). Grabbing lunch from refrigerator.
Ok, but the thing is, 9/10, I am not actually late for work. I just run around as if I am late. Then I end up with this extra 10-20 minutes before I have to leave for work.
WWNPD? (What would a normal person do?) Well, they might sit and have breakfast. A girl might spend extra time making herself cute. (Um..I have a 30 second morning make-up time, you can forget anything like eyeliner which actually takes focus). NOPE. not Frieda. I try very hard not to look too much better than my patients. It's an empathy thing.
So instead I decide to 'optimize' my morning routine. So suddenly I will run around, picking up stuff, folding clothes, doing dishes. Sometimes I will go through my mail. One time (i kid you not)...I changed back out of my work clothes so I could mop my kitchen and bathroom floors and then changed back again.
It is so weird. Because when I come home from work it's not like I run around cleaning. If things are dirty after work they stay that way. But in the morning I have this manicness...
The best part about all this is that inevitably I not only use the 'extra' time I had but go over...and then have to make a nice stressful dash to work.
Why oh why do I do this to myself?
:)

Nobody's going to hold me down....oh no
:)
YEAH I am done with VA call. Finally. Ok granted I will have to train a first year next year and I guess I will be on the alternate calls schedule, but we are overlooking those details.
I have no more exciting things to say. If you would like GRAND entertainment, please search 'berries and cream' on youtube. Mayhaps you havve already seen this wonderous commercial. It's my favoritest thing ever....since well.....ever. It's very Willy-wonka-ish if you ask me (which you didn't. fine).
goodbye call room. goodbye weird va bathroom smell. goodbye nasty blankets. goodbye annoying pillows. goodbye freaking freezing air conditioning. goodbye zouzou.
adieu. (wiping tear)

Bored or Tired?
Which one is better? and are they entirely separate (because I think being bored actually can make you tired...)
So I am in Urgent Care clinic this morning. It's been three hours. I have yet to see a patient.
I was told this month is boring. But now I see. I went to the VA gift shop to look for highlighters to spice up my morning. HMMM.

are you ready for portable Scrabble?
