Friday afternoons

There is nothing more annoying that being at work on Friday afternoons, well, except for having new work pop on Friday afternoons. I am sitting here waiting for radiology to call me (note to future radiologist viewers....read faster on Fridays).

SIGH.

Of note, last night I was channel surfing and instead of watching Entertainment Tonight or the other intellectual programs that usually draw me, I started watching C span (ok I admit I was in bed and I was trying to go to sleep).

The senators were talking about the Iraq war bill that was just passed. First of all, to sound like an old uncle, C span is quite fascinating. I think politics would be much more interesting to me if I knew the characters on the stage a little better. I was watching this stately senator from Virginia talk about his position, and I felt (ok cliche) that I was watching history in action. This cute little Hawaian (sp?) senator was talking about how the war (it's been five years) has gone on longer than US involvement in WWII. It was amazing. I mean really. Turn to cspan and watch and tell me what you think (haha official pandering for comments)

Freaking Guns

This news from Virginia Tech is seriously horrifying. Guns in the U.S. are too accessible. Yet astoundingly, there are a ton of people out there who think that their individual freedom is more important than a society's safety.

Plagiarism

Well, I can't help it. After reading my sister Doha's post for the day I just couldn't resist. For those of you who know my sisters, you will be amused.

Doha...don't worry I won't make this a habit :)

"so i'm walking to feed fuzzy (our cat), and i walk past him and he snatches out and scratches my lower calf! of course, my first reaction was yelling at him, my second was washing the cuts. I washed them with soap and water, then put alcohol swabs on them for 4 1/2 minute intervals, and lastly bactroban. I don't want some freak larvae from his claws living in my deep, bandaided cuts.

and then i told mama and mama told me to call hebah and trick her
this is how it went:
i called hebah from mama's cellphone and said:

me: hebah, could you ring open the door for us in a few minutes?
hebah: why?
me: we're bringing fuzzy over to your apartment. mama doesn't want him around me anymore after he scratched me really deeply this evening
hebah: what? Are you joking?
me: joking? we had to look for the cat carrier in the garage, but he's in the back now.
hebah: what will i do with him? why are you bringing him to me? why are you bringing him to an apartment building that he isn't even allowed in?
me: mama doesn't want him around me anymore! he's dangerous! he scratched me really deeply! i almost bled to death!!
hebah: why are you bringing him to me?
me: its your cat hebah!
hebah: ugh!!!
me: *muffled giggle*
hebah; are you lauging at me?
me: yeah..hebah...
hebah: it was a joke, wasn't it?
me: you really believed it!?!?!?!
hebah: why would you bring him to me though?

I am still laughing

What's your name?

..Who's your daddy?

I have become obsessed with this song ever since it's performance on American Idol two weeks ago. Is he rich like meee?

Enough of that, I really just couldn't get it out of my head and so it is now typed out.

Well, as the 3/4 mark of intern year passes, it is time for some reflection.
Actually, most of my reflection sounds like this (ok, so you have two call months left, and 5 extra vacation days, so counting up all the days left you have....)

I don't really know why I am on such a countdown because it is not like second year is a vacation waiting for me. BUT I will say the almost lack of overnight call as second year is something to be excited about.

Ok, I can't reflect anymore.
Ok, I actually I can't write anymore because I am too hungry.

will be back
